Note 007: Heidi Latsky Dance | US Premiere
Founded in New York City in 2001, Heidi Latsky Dance is a contemporary dance company known for inclusive, physically integrated performances. Thru innovative dance and performance art, they aim to “disrupt space, dismantle normal, and redefine beauty and virtuosity,” committing to socially engaged dance. HLD focuses heavily on diversity in body type, movement style, and representation through disability, age, and identity.
Heidi Latsky Dance held its US Premiere of TRACKING PARALLEL during its recent residency at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
“TRACKING PARALLEL is an evening length dance piece based on the unpredictability of life and how we navigate the ensuing chaos by imposing some sort of order to it. Ultimately it is about resilience. Not sentimental but haunting; fractured; repetitive; about never touching in our separate journeys but intermittently connecting very intimately; about letting go because we have to and letting go because we want to; a journey going nowhere but here.” - Heidi Latsky Dance
